Sydney
Croft is the alter-ego of two published authors who came together to blend their
very different writing interests into adventurous tales of erotic paranormal fiction.
Together, they developed a world where people with extraordinary abilities, like
the power to control storms, could live and work with others like them. The series
has been described as "Erotica meets the X-Men," and is unique in its
own "erotic super hero romance" niche.
The authors behind Sydney Croft live in different states and communicate almost
entirely through email, though they often get together for conferences and book
signings.

ABOUT THE BOOKS
| |
Are the ACRO books connected? |
 |
Yes, through the Agency for Covert Rare Operatives, where many of the characters
work. The books, in order, are: Riding The Storm, Unleashing The Storm, and Seduced By The Storm. |
|
| |
How many ACRO books will there be? |
 |
Right now, we are scheduled for six novels set in the ACRO world. The first three books, the "storm" books, are connected through several running subplots, but the next three will be stand-alones set in the ACRO world. |
|
| |
Do they need to be read in order? |
 |
No, because each book and romantic plot stands on its own. But because the
first three books carry a plotline and arc from book one to book three, reading
in order might provide a deeper understanding of the “storm” plot. |
|
|
Do the same characters appear in each book? |
 |
Each book features a different hero and heroine, but because the agency is
a focal point in the series, many of the characters are seen in re-occurring roles. |
|
| |
Is the Sydney Croft Story, Shadow Play, in the Hot Nights, Dark Desires anthology connected to the novels? |
 |
Shadow Play is very loosely connected through the hero, Hex, who works for ACRO but lives in New Orleans. |
|
|
Will Annika and Creed get their own book? |
 |
Right now there are no plans for Annika and Creed to get their own book, but they will get their Happily Ever After! We didn't feel that, with Annika's background and emotional immaturity, we could believably bring Creed and Annika together over the short time span of one book. By giving them a full year over the course of the first three books, both Annika and Creed had the time they needed to grow. |

|
Are the books erotica or erotic romance? |
 |

ABOUT SYDNEY
| |
What’s the best thing about writing with
a partner? |
 |
Reading the scenes that Steph writes, and building from them. Oh, and only
having to write half a book! *g* |
 |
It’s just so much fun – there’s an excitement there of not
knowing exactly what Larissa’s scene will be like, and then I get to play
off of what she’s had her character do. |
|
| |
Why erotic romance? |
 |
I feel that writing erotic romance gives me a level of freedom I might not
otherwise experience in my writing. Like Stephanie, I tend to write hot, but I’ve
found that adding a heightened level of sensual and sexual content above what
I normally write can allow for deep character exploration because much of what
defines humans is their feelings about sex, their ideas, background, fetishes,
etc. |
 |
I tend to forget that I write hot. That’s just how I write – it was
always that way, from the earliest romances I wrote, and it was there back when
I was writing short stories back in college. Sex was always a fundamental part
of my story-telling. So much so, that I don’t even notice it anymore. Those
scenes are my roadmap, because that’s where the heart of the emotion lies.
It’s the times where the biggest reveals happen – that moment of,
will they or won’t they, tension that let’s you know these characters
are going to do far more that just get naked…they’re going to make
a discovery. Sex and love are so entwined in my mind when I’m writing my
books – any books - that I’d feel wrong not having that added emotional
density the complications of a sexual relationship bring to the table. |
|
|
How did you meet? |
 |
We met online in a writer’s loop – at the time, we were both critiquing
with other people. |
|
|
Where did the name Sydney Croft come from? |
 |
Larissa gets full credit for this one – the name is a combination of
Lara Croft and Sydney Bristow! |
|
|
Who is your agent? |
 |
Sydney, Larissa and Stephanie are all represented by Roberta Brown of the
Brown Literary Agency.
